WEGO bus system

Effective August 13, the Niagara Falls Adventure Pass will include two days transportation on the new WEGO bus system. WEGO connects Niagara Parks to routes through the City’s tourism districts.

You will continue to use the existing Adventure Pass vouchers – when your customers exchange the vouchers in the Park they will receive an Adventure Pass scan card that is also programmed to provide two days WEGO transportation.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If your Adventure Pass customers would like to ride WEGO to Niagara Parks to get their Pass, showing their voucher to the WEGO bus driver will provide a ride to Table Rock.

WEGO – Ride to Fun!

A new tourism transportation system will be in full service in Niagara Falls in mid-August. The state-of-the-art bus system is fully accessible and will operate year-round.

Four bus lines will provide a seamless connection between the tourist areas of the City of Niagara Falls and the attractions within Niagara Parks. Visitors can travel in comfort to enjoy all that is offered at Niagara Parks, Lundy’s Lane, Fallsview, Victoria Avenue, Clifton Hill and Queen Street. An on-board infotainment system will inform visitors about upcoming WEGO stops, local activities, attractions, the weather and more.

Visitors can ride WEGO for two full days for the low retail prices* of $10.00 per adult (13+ years) and $7.00 per child (6-12 years). 5 years and under are always free. (Pricing will be modified for winter season.)

The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) is hosting two meet and greet opportunities with Mr. Wallenda on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at its Table Rock Welcome Centre. Visitors will be able to speak to the professional wirewalker during each of the hour-long sessions as he prepares for his much-anticipated crossing.

Mr. Wallenda is scheduled to attempt his 550-metre (1,800-foot) high-wire crossing from the American side of the Niagara River to the Canadian side on Friday, June 15, 2012, beginning at approximately 10:20 p.m.

It is anticipated that more than 120,000 spectators will gather to watch the event in both countries. Hundreds of millions of TV viewers around the world are also expected to watch coverage of the walk, which will be broadcast live on both the ABC and CTV television networks.

Wallenda will be the first person in more than 100 years to attempt such a feat and the first person ever to walk across on a wire so close to the Horseshoe Falls. Wirewalkers in the past have performed downstream from the Falls.

The Commission ruled that it will consider proposals by stunting professionals no more than once in a generation, defined as once every 20 years, as a way to pay tribute to the rich history and promotion of Niagara Falls.
